I got a coffee gift in the mail today, which you can read all about over at Photobean as well as see more photos! What I wanted to post here was simply a screenshot of my MacBook desktop. I decided to use one of the photos I took of my lovely coffee today. I think it makes a nice clean wallpaper, and the softness of the focus helps keep it from being too cold as does the color of the coffee itself. Mmmm coffee! Anyway, here goes:

Lately, since I started a new job, I’ve been asked a lot about stuff I like, what I do for fun, and what I know as far as computers and stuff go (I’m working at Best Buy after all). Whenever I get asked these sorts of questions my brain just seems to turn off as if actually answering these questions with any sort of specificity would be revealing far too much of myself far too early in the game. It’s completely instinctive and involuntary. I really would like to not ramble like an idiot, or stare blankly at my questioner. There is just something about being put on the spot in regards to my personal tastes and knowledge that is just downright off-putting. Such questions never fail to stump me.      During these stagnant days of mine, I haven’t been up to much. Every day seems to pass slowly and quickly at the same time. My time is mostly marked by small insignificant happenings, most of which I can’t even recall right now. But today, today is a little different. My parents are out of town for the night and I have the house to myself. Well, almost. I am watching after the pups, but that’s no big deal. I find the empty house relaxing, and recharging. I’ve always been the kind of person that needs alone time – space away from anyone, everyone. I function better with it, and I’ve had very little since I’ve been back in the States. Screenie Time

I haven’t got much to report on. Dissertating is going slow, poeting too. But it is going. Days fly by and I feel like I don’t have much to show for it. Oh well. So, just because I feel like I should really post something, here is a screenshot of my desktop:

I don’t remember who the desktop pic is by. I got it off of MacThemes not that long ago. Other than that, not much has really changed. :)

Photo Hosting

07/06/2010

I have been using Picasa Web Albums for the past few years as a way of hosting my photos so I can share them with friends and family as well as here on my blog. I am currently running out of space on my account though, and I can’t afford to upgrade to a paying account. Free is essential for me at this point in time. An issue I am having at the moment is that my Pentax K20D dSLR camera is taking high quality photos, which of course means more space is required to store the photos (whether on my computer or on web albums). Of course I could simply lower the quality of photos I take directly on the camera as well as when I upload them onto my web albums. Read the rest of this entry »

Buried in arms

18/05/2010

It’s nearly six in the morning and the sun has risen to that point where everything glows warm, blushing in the new light. At the same time there is still a touch of that night time coldness, a little blue on the shadow side. Mmm I love this time of day, and the fact that I rarely see it makes it that much more special. Yes, I would rather not see the sunrise every morning, or see how the rays of light play on the trees for the start of the day – waking the small critters and birds into activity. I’ve taken art classes in the past, and on my own I’ve attempted to draw and paint sceneries, but I find that I get overwhelmed in the expansiveness of detail. I admire artists that take on the panoramic scope of landscapes. I mentioned in an earlier post that I was feeling visually creative lately. Read the rest of this entry »

Last.fm

16/05/2010

I know I’ve said it before, but I really love last.fm. Recently I have been into folk inspired music and last.fm is a great resource for finding new artists to listen to. I listen to the radio of one artist, find some new ones to listen to, pick one I really like and then listen to their station, each one leading to refreshing new discoveries. I love it. One of my favorite stations has been Laura Gibson Radio. In addition to really enjoying Laura Gibson’s music, I also came across Mariee Sioux. Read the rest of this entry »

Screenies

16/04/2010

I realized the other day that I haven’t done a screenshot of my MacBook in ages so I figured it was high-time that I shared the current look of my ‘puter. Of course one of the reasons that I didn’t bother with screenshots was the fact that I didn’t change the look of it for a long time. Recently though I changed things up a bit: Read the rest of this entry »

It has been so long since I’ve done consistent blogging that I up and forgot my basic html tags. I had to look them up. Tsk. I am currently shaking with my recent caffeine intake in the form of coffee (and I didn’t even finish it all), and my mind is racing with thoughts. Thoughts about posting, about my life, about ethics, and any other random thought that goes through my head at four in the morning. But I’ll try and focus for the sake of any poor soul that happens to come across this sad excuse of a blog. Read the rest of this entry »

I am in the process of catching up on podcasts. I have been slacking in that department. I’ve been awesome about keeping up on my RSS feeds, but haven’t had the attention span to listen to my podcasts. I too easily tune them out. One podcast that I love is Poetry Off the Shelf done by the Poetry Foundation. If you don’t listen to it, you should. Go now, listen, enjoy. :)
